Is God really that nice?

In Genesis 6-9 the story of Noah's ark is told. In this story I read to find the characterization of God. In the story God shows moments when he is a jerk and not caring about other people. However in certain parts God realizes that he was being not very nice and apologizes. God decides to put and end to all humans by means of a giant flood. He tells one human Noah to take his family and each animal of its kind on a giant arc that he needs to build. He does this and the flood lasts 40 days and 40 nights. Everything that wasn't on the boat died. When he got off and the storm was over he still praised God. God felt bad for trying to kill all the humans and made a covenant with Noah to never try to kill all the humans again. This story really goes against what I believed in God, I always thought of him as a great person who always cares for everyone but in the story he is a jerk and commits a genocide against all humans. This is not even close to what I think of God as when I think of him. As the story progresses God becomes a little more like the one I always imagined. He apologizes for his actions and realizes what he did was wrong. God may have wrong actions at certain times but it my opinion he is still a good person.

Adam and Eve and The Garden of Eden.... who's to blame.

After reading parts two and three of genesis, I believe the serpent is to be blamed for Adam and Eve getting kicked out of garden of Eden. The serpent was the one who convinced Eve to eat from the tree. When Eve said to the serpent that God said " You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden and must not touch it or you will die." The serpent said " You will not surely die." Then Eve decided to eat from the tree because the serpent said it would make her like God knowing good and evil. When God found out they ate from the tree he was furious. Eve however says " The serpent deceived me and I ate it." Then God decided to curse the serpent by taking away his legs. While some people might think it is Gods fault for this because he was the one to tell them not to eat from the tree which made the tree seem more desirable to eat from. Some people might say it is Eves fault because she actually ate the fruit and disobeyed God. I still think it is the serpents fault because without him she would of never had the idea to eat from the tree and eventually disobey God.

How Epic of Gilgamesh flood story compares to others from around the world.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh the gods send the flood because the people of the world were being to loud. In the Temuan story the gods create the flood because the people of the world are sinning and not being good to each other. I think the story of Temuan has a much more credible reason for the flood. In Gilgamesh there was only one survivor of the flood. In the story of Temuan story there are two survivors. In Gilgamesh they survive by building a giant ark. In Temuan the survivors named Mamak and Inak Bungsuk survived by an Eaglewood tree at the Royal mountain. The two survivors then used a spell to ease down the intensity of the storm and flood. Mamak Bungsuk and Inak Bungsuk are the Temuan people's version of the Adam and Eve story. In the Epic of Gilgamesh the god EA warned Utnapishtim about the flood so he could prepare. In the end the gods forgave humans and let Utnapishtim live and become immortal. They also promise never to try to wipe out humanity again. Just from doing research I found out how common flood stories are around the world and how similar some of them

Welcome to my blog

Welocme to my blog. I am a student at Roslyn High School. I am a freshman this year. I have a sister who is in 7th grade at Roslyn Middle School. My English teacher is Mr. Reiff, he is a very good teacher. He assigned this project for us to create a blog. So far this project is very fun and I think I will enjoy keeping it about my projects throughout the year. Some of my favorite things to do are all kind of sports, fantasy football, and reading. For the blog I will have to record what I do in English and should be a very interesting thing to do.
